The reason why I am called 2M
is

because I used to response
poorly to injections in Honji Fertility Center.

Finally, I took Dr. Zhang’s
advice to

double the dosage of M
injection and the situation changed.

So, just call me 2M.

Preface

In despair, I googled online
and located Honji Fertility Center.

When I plucked up my courage
and entered the clinic for the first time,

all I wanted was merely to
attend the workshop.

Perhaps I just happened to
turn to this page:

Smile, and you are one step
closer to success.

On Sep. 15, 2012, I met Dr.
Zhang and his team.

Though we have known one
another for less than a hundred days, I thank them with all my heart.

This pamphlet offered by a
stranger

is aimed at encouraging the
woman reading it to have positive attitude

and I wish to contribute my
story to the pamphlet and help others.

The journey is difficult and
that’s why we need companions.

What is unknown is terrible.
Therefore, I decide to tell you my own story

to give you a hand.

Dry your tears and move on
bravely.

2M’s days in Honji

A workshop demands only
dedication

Honji Fertility Center is
very different from the other clinics.

It holds regular workshops to
help those in need.

As a doctor,

Dr. Zhang offers his
intellectual property selfishly

instead of worrying about the
prying eyes of the other clinics.

His deeds are generous

and it proves that

this is a clinic willing to
help people from the bottom of their hearts.

Whether you are either not
aware of this therapy or even in the mid of it,

do not miss this workshop.

It doesn’t matter if you are
100% sure of the content.

Nevertheless, you may prepare
yourself for

the process of treatment and
the expense needed in different phases.

Once you start to know more
about the therapy,

the uncertainty may become
less and less.

What’s more, it is worth
listening to

those successful cases and
experience shared in the workshop.

Vaginal examination on the
second day of monthly periods

2M was not familiar with
fertility center.

Therefore, 2M was very
surprised when she was required to have a vaginal examination on the second day
of her monthly periods.

“Isn’t that gross and bloody?

What does the doctor expect
to find?” she doubted.

On Sep. 15, 2012, 2M visited
the fertility center for the first time.

Her intention was no more
than consultation.

Therefore, when a nurse
informed 2M to prepare for vaginal examination,

2M reminded her specifically,

“Today is the second day of
my monthly periods.”

However, this time the ultrasonic
scan

allowed 2M to discover its
importance.

When Dr. Zhang found out that
a 3 cm cyst appeared inside 2M’s womb

due to the over stimulation
of her previous therapy conducted last month,

he suggested that 2M postpone
the therapy and

take the Pill to eliminate
the cyst before proceeding the treatment.

Therefore, 2M was convinced
that Honji was the right place for her.

The doctor 2M went to previously
was also good

and 2M was still grateful for
his help.

However, if another new
course of treatment was practiced

without discovering the cyst
in advance,

it would be doomed to fail
undoubtedly.

The chance of achieving
success would rely on complete luck.

Second clinic visit on Double
Tenth Day of 2012.

The team of Honji Fertility
Center worked hard even on a national holiday.

The results of regular
ultrasonic tests and personal blood tests suggest that

2M had very different body
conditions and

clomiphene citrate may be
very likely to work poorly on her.

In this case, 2M began her
course of injections straight away.

Although there was still a
long way to go,

a step closer to success is
worth celebrating with a smile.

There is really no need to be
afraid of injection.

If the patient is fortunate,
taking medications will be enough to help her ovulate.

If not, injections are
unavoidable.

For those who have never had
DIY injections before, they will be surely frightened.

Even if you are experienced, you
are still under lots of pressure having injections every day.

2M was lucky.

First of all, 2M was not particularly
sensitive to pain.

Moreover, when 2M was having
her CDE (namely, Certified Diabetes Educator) test,

she stuck the insulin syringe
used by diabetes patients on her body as a demonstration.

Therefore, 2M was quite
familiar with needles.

She did not consider DIY
injection to be a problem.

Nevertheless, after she
received numerous injections,

even such a brave woman like
2M might be frightened a little.

The days of having injections
discouraged people.

For those who had changed
their courses of treatment or doctors,

the pharmacist and nurses of
Honji would be in full charge of all medications and dosage of injection

so that patients could use
the needles as scheduled

without worrying about the
proportion.

The number of injections may
be determined by individual body conditions.

2M was confident that the
record she had set was difficult to break.

For those who tried DIY
injection for the first time, don’t be afraid,

especially when you have had
experience of body piercing

or tattoos.

Even if you haven’t tried either
body piercing or tattoos, tooth extraction is definitely something you have
experienced before.

If you can survive tooth
extraction, the injection is nothing to be afraid of.

Intensive follow-ups

When the course of treatment
came to its tenth day, patients would be required to visit the doctor.

Dr. Zhang would examine the
number of follicles and their size.

If the follicle did not
appear as expected, the doctor would drew blood to determine the dosage of
medication.

The doctors 2M used to see

would increase the dosage
once they found the follicle wasn’t good enough.

However, in Honji Fertility
Center

the doctor tends to make the
right and objective judgment by interpreting the result of blood tests.

When 2M visited the doctor on
the tenth day of therapy, the results of her follicles and blood test were
poor.

Therefore, Dr. Zhang decided
to increase the dosage of injection by 1.5 times.

However, when 2M visited the
doctor again on the 12
th and 14th day of therapy, the
condition did not turn well.

2M was depressed and almost
lost the courage to proceed with the course of treatment.

However, Dr. Zhang encouraged
2M not to give in so quickly since she had dedicated herself to it for so long.

He would increase the dosage
again.

If it was not working, then 2M
might consider the possibility of giving up.

2M was adventurous and she
was fortunate since

she did not suffer from
ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) because of her previous treatments.

2M told Dr. Zhang that she
was not afraid of pain.

So, just increase the dosage
as he wished.

Therefore, from the 15th
day of her treatment course,

2M received two times the
dosage of injection of others in general every day (though still far less than
traditional IVF treatment).

The conditions of blood test
and follicles did get much better on the 16
th and 17th
day as expected.

From then on, my nickname in
Honji was 2M.

(Honji Fertility Center
offers a wide range of injections.

Since the dosage of a M
injection I received was twice more than that of others, I was called 2M.)

At that time, 2M was sad and
disappointed

because she did not know when
she would be finally qualified for ovum pick up (OPU).

However, there was only one
idea left with 2M:

Choose a doctor, believe the
doctor.

More importantly, support
whatever the doctor was going to practice to help you.

If 2M had been discouraged at
that time,

she would have missed an
opportunity of moving forward.

People responded to
medications differently.

Ovum pick up

If the course of treatment
went well, 2M would move on to the next phase and

ascend from the 14th
to the 15
th floor of Honji Fertility Center.

The waiting area was clean
and tidy, decorated in light colors.

The fertility center played
soft music to help patients release their tension.

Under the guidance of Dr.
Zhang, 2M tried to have enough sleep on the night before ovum picking up.

What’s more, 2M did not
suffer from nerves much.

2M did fall asleep as she
stayed in the waiting area.

When it was her turn to pick
up ovum,

there were two staff walking
her to the door of the operation room.

After 2M entered the
operation room,

she saw the whole team had
been well-equipped.

After reconfirming her name,

Dr. Zhang yelled, “Focus,” to
start the process of ovum picking up.

In the whole process, Dr.
Zhang and his team members

would explain the procedures
in details.

Before the OPU needle was
stuck in,

they would get the patient
prepared and take a deep breath.

Nonstop care and
encouragement was the key to the success of treatment.

I can guarantee you that the
whole process of OPU would be less painful than ear piercing.

Though you may feel aching
and uncomfortable,

it is far less painful than
you would imagine.

Therefore, do not waste
either your concern or fear

on ovum pick up.

In the process of ovum
picking up,

2M was touched and was on the
verge of tears.

So many people worked under
so much stress

to fulfill patients’ dreams
of having a child of their own.

With so many people willing
to help and give,

we, as the beneficiaries,
seem to have no reasons to give up.

Embryo
transfer

Before conducting embryo
transfer, the technician would inform the patient

how well the fertilized egg
developed.

That is, the technician would
tell you the quality of the fertilized egg.

On the day of embryo
transfer, 2M came to the waiting area on the 15
th floor as usual.

How wonderful and cozy the
waiting area was!!

Unbelievably, 2M fell asleep
again before the operation.

As far as 2M was concerned,
embryo transfer was something she would worry about.

What concerned her was the
embryo

and its development
afterwards.

However, she tried to relax
and take it easy.

While 2M was in the waiting
area, the technician would use the handout and explain to the patient

so that she may understand
the conditions of fertilized egg better.

At that time the technician
asked 2M if she would worry about multiple gestation.
